I can't see Derek Jeter leaving the New York Yankees and wearing another uniform in another city, no way! I thought the same thing with Michael Jordan and he ended up on the Washington Wizards for 2 seasons at the tail end of his NBA career. Could the same thing happen with Derek Jeter? As a long distance Yankees fan, it would be difficult to watch. This negotiation is starting to get messy and the media is pouncing on it like a cat going after a mouse. I'm surprised the front office has made comments to the media regarding terms of their offer and essentially drawing a line in the sand. The team has supposedly offered 3 years and 45 million that has been rejected by the Jeter camp. The statements by GM Brian Cashman appear to make Jeter look greedy and to win public sentiment in hopes of making Jeter fold. Would this type of thing be going on if the "Boss" were still alive and steering the ship instead of his Barney Fife and Gomer Pyle sons? I don't think so. You don't treat a guy this way who has done so much for your organization over the years and helped you win multiple World Series Trophies. If you no longer want him then let him walk, but don't go on a smear campaign and try to turn the fans against one of the greatest Yankees to ever wear the pinstripes!
